Midday Prayer
When at midday
the bell is tolled
and I angelusize
the name of the Trinity.
I'm acutely aware of the evil trio
communing
at the base of my soul.
When I pray of a tiny vessel
dropping anchor
at the womb of Mary,
I see another vessel
- I -
buffeted hard by a triad of winds.
striving
to inch against the winds;
rocking dangerously
on a vast ocean.
My vessel is far from it's goal
- to reach the green.
It is anchored to the deep
by the block; my worst enemies.
The evil trinity
- greed, doubt, fear.
When I end the Angelus,
I've only prayed to set sail.
